Introducing the 500-MS Ion Trap
The Varian 500-MS LC Ion Trap is the instrument of choice
for
high-throughput LC/MS analysis where sensitivity, reliability
and
productivity are essential.
The Varian 500-MS provides a robust platform for demanding
LC/MS/MS applications. The system sensitivity, mass
resolution, and mass stability reflect the ion trap
technology’s
inherent advantages, while the new enhanced charge capacity
extends the number of ions that can be stored in the ion
trap resulting in greater sensitivity and reduced background
while delivering reliable qualitative and quantitative
results.
By delivering excellent sensitivity over the entire mass range in full scan mode, and exceptional MS/MS and MSn capabilities, theVarian 500-MS quickly provides superior information for even the most complex sample matrices."
Sensitivity enhancements
include SelecTemp™, the unique temperature programmable
API (Atmospheric Pressure Ionization), enabling optimal analysis
of thermally labile compounds. All of these technical capabilities
lead to the remarkable performance
and productivity delivered by the Varian 500-MS LC ion trap.
Doubly Charged Normal 5,000

Singly Charged Fast 15,000

State-of-the-art API capability
The Varian 500-MS delivers increased
sensitivity and selectivity
through optimized analysis of all analytes, including highly
thermally labile compounds, using Varian, Inc.’s
patent pending
temperature programmable SelecTemp™ API interface.
Maintaining sample integrity is no longer a concern. SelecTemp’s
programmable temperature control delivers optimum drying
gas
temperatures at every time point throughout a complex analysis.
Additional SelecTemp API benefits include reduced
interface
contamination, improved
throughput, simplified
setup and easily
recordable parameters for
GLP purposes.
Premium scanning and the power of MSn
Achieve unit mass resolution with uncompromised qualitative
and quantitative results for narrow or coeluting chromatographic
peaks at scan speeds of up to 15,000 Da/sec with the patented
‘unidirectional triple resonance’ scan method
that preferentially
ejects all the trapped ions toward the detector. The fast
scan
speed is complemented by rapid ion polarity switching of
200
milliseconds to accommodate the optimum detection of ion
polarity for every analyte in the sample. Enhanced qualitative
information is delivered by the 500-MS with MSn operation
to n=10, expanding the spectral information content for structure
elucidation.
