Varian AA240FS Fast Sequential AAS

The AA240FS fast sequential atomic absorption
spectrometer brings the productivity and speed of analysis
of ICP-OES to AA.
Just like an ICP-OES, the AA240FS measures all elements
in each sample, before progressing to subsequent samples.
Conventional AA systems still determine one element at a time,
repeating all samples for each element in turn. AA240FS provides complete results for each sample in minutes. Compare

In addition to saving you valuable time and improving sample

Halve your analysis
time
In tests conducted by Varian, the analyis was completed
in a little over half the time taken by conventional
AA. When operating with:
- SPS autosampler
- 10 elements (Na, Ca, Cr, Cu, Mg, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Pb),
3 standards, 20 Samples
- air / acetylene flame
- PROMT mode with 5 sec read and 2 % precision, 10 second
read delay
- Multielement lamps: Cr/Cu/Mn/Fe/CoNi, Ca/Mg, Na, Pb
- All other parameters at default setting
The result?
Conventional AA analysis time: 1 hour 36 minutes
Fast sequential analysis time: 46 minutes
The productivity and speed of the AA240FS are ideally
matched with the automation of the SIPS
flame dilution system and the SPS
flame autosampler. This productivity package
enables 10 elements to be determined in one sample in less
than 2 minutes.
Conventional AA systems determine samples for each
element before moving onto the next element and measuring
each sample again.
In the speed trial described above, conventional AA sample
consumption was over 25 mLs for the same 10 elements.

The AA240FS Fast Sequential system measures
all elements for a sample before moving onto the next sample.
The AA240FS uses far less sample for each analysis
than does a conventional AA. In the speed trial described
above, Fast Sequential Mode consumed only 14.5 mL during the
10 element analysis.
