Kathy Moffatt originally joined Varian in the
fall of 1987, bringing her experience and training in the medical
lab field. A graduate of Algonquin College, and with further
Business Studies from the University of Ottawa under her belt,
she was well equiped to service Customers in the National Capital
area.
In November of 2002 she assumed the role of National
Sales Manager for Varian Canada, overseeing a large staff of
Product Specialists and Sales Persons.
Kathy and her family live on a rural property
where she enjoys gardening, and is very interested in organic
horticulture. When the ground is too hard to till, as in winter,
she turns her skills to creating stained glass artwork.

Mark Cullen joined Varian in in early 1984 as
a Service Representative in Winnipeg, after graduating from
Red River Community College. Five and a half years later, he
made the transition to sales and moved to Edmonton where he
is currently based. His strong background in hardware and his
exceptional understanding of his Western customers' needs enables
him to successfully provide timely
solutions to tough analytical problems.
He keeps so busy introducing Varian solutions
to his customers, he barely has time for golf!

Jason Dunbar joined the ranks of Varian Canada's
Sales/Chemist contingent in the summer of 1998. With his B.Sc.
from the University of Alberta, and a strong background in analytical
chemistry gained over several years as a chemist/supervisor

in private industry, Jason has a wealth of experience, knowledge
and understanding of the petrochemical industry, and is based
in Edmonton.

Mike Lee is a graduate of BCIT and he worked
for Varian in the late 80’s early 90’s as a field customer support
representative servicing AA, GC, LC and UV. He left Varian in
1991 and worked in sales and business management capacities
with electronics and micro wave technology companies. He rejoined
Varian Canada in November 2007, and working out of Vancouver,
he is offering Varian's world class line of Optical Spectroscopy
products to our customers in British Columbia and Alberta, and
covers British Columbia for all other instrument categories
as well.
In his spare time he builds full scale replica vintage aircraft, and hopes
to actually fly in one of these projects some day.

Joyce Jennison was formerly with the Burmah
Castrol UK refinery for nine years as a supervisor of their
chromatography facilities. Joy has been a chromatographic specialist
at both Ryerson Polytechnical Institute and Canada Packers Chemicals
since coming to Canada in 1982. Since 1985, she has been a chromatography
and mass spectrometry specialist with Varian Canada. Joy (or
"J.J." as she is affectionately known by her colleagues) has
been responsible for applications support, method 
development, seminars and the development, preparation and delivery
of both customized and formal training programs for Varian's
customer base.
Currently Joy specializes in both GC and HPLC
customer support for pre-sales configurations and post-sales
applications.
Joy loves to spend time with her husband Colin and their 5 children,
their spouses and two Grandchildren, sharing their activities. The two youngest boys
of the Jennison clan, Colin Jr. and Alex, travel around Ontario, Canada and
internationally with a "Top 40" band, Joy and Colin can often be found in the audience!
Joy enjoys playing competitive badminton and has recently begun playing tennis, a great outdoor summer sport.

John Lewzey is the longest currently serving
member of the Varian Canada staff, starting as a Service Representative
in May 1969! (Rumour has it he started with Varian at ten years
old!) John has worn different hats over the years; Service Representative,
National Service Manager, and most recently Product Specialist,
concentrating on the Spectroscopy product line. While based
in Mississauga, John travels widely assisting our customers.
John is originally from the United Kingdom and
is a devoted fan of the "Liverpool Sound", regularly making
his own sounds playing the drums for a local band.
He is also an ardent cyclist, regularly participating
in charity cycling challenges, in addition to cycling tours
with his club.

Richard Cook B.Sc. received his Honours B.Sc.
from the University of Guelph in 1989. Since then he has continually
challenged himself by assuming ever more demanding roles in
industry, in both sales and management, coming to Varian in
the fall of 1997. He now covers most of Ontario selling our
Optical Spectroscopy product line.
Richard is an athletic person, captaining his
senior high school football and basketball teams, being named
athlete of the year and winning awards at the national level
in canoeing.

Danielle Béland obtained her degree from
the Université de Québec à Montréal.
She joined Varian Canada in October 1987. She is one of Varian
Canada's chromatography and mass spectrometry specialists. With
more than 30 years experience in GC and GCMS she provides expert
technical support to Varian customers in Eastern Canada helping
them with method development, troubleshooting...etc. Danielle
has also been involved in many training sessions and seminars.
Her broad based knowledge and experience make her an invaluable
resource for Varian customers and staff members alike.

Guy Beaudoin is a graduate of the University
of Ottawa. He joined Varian Canada in Feb 1997 after gaining
extensive experience selling laboratory supplies and equipment.
Guy is responsible for Molecular Spectroscopy (UV/Vis/Nir, fluorescence
and FTIR for Eastern Canada as well as HPLC for Eastern Ontario
and the Atlantic Provinces

Mark James joined Varian at the very start of 2000
covering the GTA for chromatography sales and has an Honours BSc.
and a BEd. from York University. Before coming to Varian he gained
experience as a Lab manager in a contract lab, as a sales rep for a
major biotechnical company, a pharmaceutical project manager and a
clinical counsellor.
Mark is located in Toronto, Ontario and in 2004 began covering all
of Canada in his current role of Product Specialist on the Galaxie(tm)
Client Server Chromatography software system. Where in Canada is Mark?
Look for that new Galaxie installation and he'll be there performing
training and installation assistance.
Mark enjoys playing guitar, music composition and his
turbo-charged AWD car. When he is not doing home renovations under the
supervision of his wife Mary, he enjoys watching his son play hockey.

Sylvie Larocque came to Varian Canada in the fall of 2000 after
gaining four and a half years of sales and customer service experience
with a major Canadian instrument and consumeable supplier. Prior
to this she worked for several years in molecular biology/cell
culture
where she put her Batchelor of Science degree from the Université
de Montréal to good use.
She is based in Montréal and offers Varian
Inc's line of Chromatography products to our Customers in the
Province of Quebec and Atlantic Canada.

Darren Johnston received his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry
from the University of Alberta in 1994. After seven years as a
chemist/supervisor for a private environmental analytical laboratory,
Darren joined the Varian team as a Chromatography Applications
Chemist in January 2001.
Darren works out of the Edmonton, Alberta office,
and is responsible for chromatography applications support for
Western Canada.
In his spare time, Darren enjoys playing in
a local band, dabbling in the stock market, and spending time
with his family and friends.

Nathalie Proulx received her Bachelor's Degree from Sherbrooke
University in 1997. She joined Varian in April 2001 as a Service
Representative for Spectroscopy instruments. Two years later she
made the transition to the Sales and took responsibility for consumables
products in Eastern Canada. In the spring of 2006
she returned, after enjoying maternity leave,
with a boost of energy to help customers across Canada with their
needs in Chromatography Consumables (SPE Products, GC & HPLC Columns,
Gas Clean Filter, Parts & Supplies and more...).
Nathalie enjoys
spending time with her family. Whenever possible she is traveling,
gardening, skiing and hopes to soon secure her private pilot's

Marcus
Kim received his combined honours B.Sc from York University
with a specialization in molecular biology and organic chemistry
in 1995. After working for a year, he then enrolled into the
graduate program at McMaster University and received his Ph.D.
in 2002 in chemistry. Marcus joined Varian in May of 2004 as
trainer for the chromatography and mass spectrometry division.
Currently Marcus is the LCMS applications specialist for Canada,
Team leader for LCMS training in North America and LCMS support
specialist for North America. In addition to his many duties
with Varian Canada, Marcus is also involved with new product
development, implementation and consultation with Varian R&D.
In addition to his interests in science, Marcus
is a classically trained pianist with an interest in the virtuoso
romantic era repertoire and a passionate fitness enthusiast/bodybuilder.
He hopes one day to combine his passions and benchpress a Steinway
grand piano.

Christophe Deckers, completed his Masters degree in Chemistry
at l' Université du Québec à Montréal.
He previously worked at St-Justine’s Hospital, doing cancer research
using multiple chromatographic techniques. Then he worked with
a leading provider of bio-separation technologies.
Christophe joined Varian in February of 2004
with responsiblity for
consumables. Based in Montreal, he covers Eastern Ontario, Quebec
and Atlantic Canada and is responsible for sales of Sample Preparation
Products, GC and HPLC columns and all chromatography supplies.
In his free time, Christophe enjoys spending
time with his friends and family. Hiking is his favorite activity
to keep fit and to enjoy the outdoors.

Manish Amin joined Varian in March 2007 as a
sales representative for Consumable products. With an Honours
BSc from the University of Toronto (Class of 1996) and a diploma
in Pharmaceutical Quality Assurance from Toronto Institute of
Pharmaceutical Technology (class of 1998), he worked for seven
years
in a variety of technical and research oriented positions at
the University of Toronto, Mount Sinai Hospital, and Genpharm.
Following these challenging assignments he has been servicing
the Ontario chromatography community for three years as a Technical
Consultant. He brings his excellent experience in LC, LCMS,
and sample preparation and extensive knowledge of the highly
regulated pharmaceutical market to the table to benefit his
Varian Customers
Manish will be presenting our line of consumables
products; liquid & gas chromatography columns, sample preparation
products and chromatography parts and supplies to Varian Canada
Customers in Belleville, Ontario and all points west
Manish is an athletic person. A former varsity
rower, he currently trains for Marathons & Triathlons, and has

Jacques Plante is a graduate of l' Universite
du Quebec à Trois-Rivieres. He became a member of the
Varian team in September 2005 after 18 years in sales for a
world wide supplier of inorganic analysis products.
At that time he assumed sales responsibilities

Andrew Toms joined Varian in the spring of 2000. He holds
his BSc (Chemistry) from Memorial University of Newfoundland
and his MSc (Geology) from the University of Windsor. His Masters
thesis was based on studies of methyl mercury in sediments,
following which he supervised the ICP-MS facility at the Great
Lakes Institute for Environmental Research. Andrew brings his
background in environmental and geological trace-element research
to our ICP-MS and ICP-OES customers, assisting them with method
development, technical support of instrument hardware/software,
and on-site training.
Andrew loves the outdoors, and spends as much time as he can
hiking, mountain biking, camping and cross country skiing, and
indulges his interest in photography wherever his travels take
him as well. In his spare time he also volunteers with of one
of Canada's premier folk/indie rock music festivals.
